2023 SAMA Annual General Meeting - Assessment Matters
Delegates from Saskatchewan municipal governments and stakeholder groups gathered at the Delta Hotel in Regina on April 5, 2023 for SAMA's Annual General Meeting. The day's agenda included progress reports from the CEO and the Board of Directors, an update from the Assessment Services Division, a Financial Report, and Preliminary Value Trend information for the 2025 Revaluation. Delegates also heard updates from the Cities of Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Swift Current on assessment trends in their jurisdictions.
Alanna Hnatiw - Mayor of Sturgeon County, Alberta - gave the keynote address.
SAMA also partnered with the Ministry of Government Relations to offer a half-day training session for municipal administrators on April 4. The training session provided an overview of the assessment system in Saskatchewan, looking ahead to the upcoming 2025 Revaluation. Government Relations detailed how best to prepare for 2025 from a tax perspective, describing some of the options available to municipalities including tax tools.
