"A" DEPTH = A-Depth Rating
The depth of the topsoil in the soil profile with the associated rating assigned for that depth. The rating is expressed in percentage terms. The average topsoil depth for each soil zone receives a rating of 100%. Soil with greater than average topsoil depths for a soil zone are bonused, while soils with various levels of erosion in the form of exposed subsoil receive a deduction. The previously described master rating is multiplied by the top soil depth rating. For example an A depth rating of .95 on an eroded (ER10) soil means that the master rating will be reduced by 5% when it is multiplied by .95 ( 100% - 5% = 95%).
